Gardening To Cut Ozone

homepagecropped

Our Eco-Footprint Challenge team

We are the 6th Grade Science and Social Studies class taught by Lauren Johnson.

Our goal

We want to reduce ozone gas.

Our idea

We will use ozone gardens next to the school parking lot to make people see how bad ozone is and get them to cut down on activities that make ozone.

Our plan

Clean Air Carolina helped our school plant an ozone garden two years ago. Ozone hurts plants and people, especially kids. The plants in this garden start looking bad if there is too much ozone in the air.

The plants in our ozone garden have died. We will replant them and add a second garden next to it. We will watch the plants and record how they are doing. We will share this information through our Eco-Footprint Challenge reports.

We also will study daily reports on air pollution. We will do other activities to get people to cut down on doing things that make ozone, like running their cars when they wait to pick up children.
